Evaluation of the Incident
AK Party Kayseri Provincial Directorate made a statement about the attack on municipal council candidate Şerafettin Bahadır in Pınarbaşı district. In the statement, it was stated that it was not appropriate for the MHP candidate’s brother to injure Bahadır because he could not digest the ‘insult’ to his brother and to be associated with the MHP and the political establishment.

In the statement made by AK Party Kayseri Provincial Directorate, it was reminding that as a result of the local held elections in Pınarbaşı, the mayoralty passed from MHP to CHP. In addition, it was emphasized that a democratic stance requires respect for the will of the people, and it was stated that turning political competition into anger and personalization could lead to undesirable consequences.
The AK Party stated that they expect the excessive celebrations to turn political competition into anger and refuse to legitimize violence, and that they expect the independent judiciary to shed light on the incident. It was emphasized that violence could not be justified on any grounds, and it was expressed that Şerafettin Bahadır was wished to get well soon and that he would regain his health.
The AK Party stated that they found it ugly and unethical to use people’s physical characteristics as political material, as required by political morality, and emphasized that they would follow the rule of law and the process required by law.
