CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, in his speech at the public meeting held at his party’s Malatya Provincial Directorate, emphasized that CHP aims to take responsibility, remove the debris and make citizens smile. Özel also touched upon the issues of uncertainty and grievance experienced by earthquake-affected citizens in Malatya.
Problems Encountered in Malatya After the Earthquake
Focusing on the uncertainties experienced in the house demolition and reconstruction process after the earthquake in Malatya and the grievances of the citizens, Özel emphasized that the state should fulfill its responsibilities towards the earthquake victims. He also drew attention to the cut in rental aid and the economic difficulties experienced by earthquake victims.
Apricot Producers’ Problems and Solution Suggestions
Özel discussed the difficulties faced by producers regarding apricot, which is Malatya’s important agricultural product. Stating that the increase in apricot prices is not reflected sufficiently on the producers, Özel stated that farmers should be supported and a base price should be implemented.
Pensioners, Minimum Wage and Farmers’ Problems
Private also highlighted low pensions, minimum wages and the economic difficulties faced by farmers. Referring to the inadequacy of pensions and the inadequacy of support given to farmers, Özel stated that the government should take steps on these issues. He also emphasized that the minimum wage should be increased and the support provided to farmers should be increased.
CHP’s Policies and June 30 Rally
Özel stated that they aim to hear the voices of citizens and defend their rights in line with CHP’s policies. Stating that they aim to draw attention to the demands of workers, retirees, traders and farmers with the rally to be held in Kocaeli on June 30, Özel emphasized that CHP will continue to be the voice of the citizens.
