Cryptocurrency exchange BtcTurk was subjected to a cyber attack and detected uncontrolled withdrawals from its platform on June 22, 2024. As a result of the attack, some of the balances of 10 cryptocurrencies in hot wallets were affected. BtcTurk has taken the necessary precautions for the security of users’ assets.
Measures Taken After a Cyber Attack
In the statement made by BtcTurk officials, it was stated that cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals were temporarily stopped after the attack. It was emphasized that user assets will not be affected by these losses since the financial strength of the company is above the affected amounts.
User Assets Are Safe
It was stated that the assets held in BtcTurk’s cold wallets were safe and only some of the balances in the hot wallets were affected by the cyber attack. It was stated that users’ assets would not be affected by this attack and that the company is continuing detailed research on the issue.
Communication Established with Official Authorities
While BtcTurk teams carried out detailed investigations regarding the cyber attack, they also contacted official authorities. It was stated that the measures taken after the attack will be completed and put into use as soon as possible. It was stated that BtcTurk acts sensitively regarding the security and transparency of users’ assets.
