Heavy rains and melting snow in the south of Switzerland caused floods and landslides. As a result of this natural disaster, some houses were buried underground and damaged, and transportation to the popular tourist center town of Zermatt became inaccessible.
Many areas were flooded due to floods and landslides in the canton of Valais. As a result of the landslide on the road leading to the Zermatt ski resort at an altitude of 1638 meters, transportation to the town was interrupted and train services were stopped. In addition, some houses were buried under the ground as a result of the landslide in the Misox Valley, in the village of Sorte in the city of Lostallo in the canton of Grisons.
According to the information provided by the Cantonal police, dozens of people in the Misox and Calanca regions were evacuated from their homes, while the extent of the damage caused by the natural disaster is not yet clear.
