CHP Deputy Chairman and Sivas Deputy Ulaş Karasu presented a parliamentary question to the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate, Mehmet Özhaseki, in order to find out the cause of the fish deaths in Tohma Stream. Karasu expressed the concerns of the local people and requested that the fish deaths be investigated and necessary precautions be taken.
Local People Are Anxious: Fish Deaths Cause Concern
Stating that the mass fish deaths in the Tohma Stream in Sivas worried the local people, Karasu stated that especially the citizens who make a living from agriculture and animal husbandry are concerned about this situation. Karasu stated that Gürün District Governorate took the situation seriously and warned the citizens.
Analysis Results Awaiting
Emphasizing that the samples taken regarding fish deaths should be examined and the results announced as soon as possible, Karasu stated that the ministry should fulfill its responsibility to inform citizens. He also demanded that a statement be made about relieving the grievances of farmers and breeders in the region.
Toxic Waste and Responsible Persons
Karasu questioned the accuracy of the accusation that fish deaths were caused by the mixing of toxic waste and asked about the penalties and precautions to be taken against the responsible person or persons. He also requested that the measures taken throughout Türkiye for similar situations be shared.
