In the incident that took place in Göreme town, famous for its unique view of Cappadocia, the hot air balloon taking off encountered an unexpected situation. The determined and prudent intervention of the balloon pilot prevented a possible disaster.
The hot air balloon, which took off from Çavuşin village, was caught in the opposite wind while heading towards Göreme Love Valley. Realizing this risky situation, pilot Caner Uzun quickly made an emergency landing decision and tried to land the balloon safely.
The balloon, flying at low altitude among the fairy chimneys, was made ready for landing thanks to the skillful maneuvers of pilot Caner Uzun. However, during the emergency landing, the balloon got stuck between the fairy chimneys and stopped. Upon notification of the situation, health, fire brigade and rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene.
20 tourists and the pilot in the balloon were safely evacuated from the balloon stuck between the fairy chimneys with the help of a ladder. While there were no injuries after the incident, the tourists returned to their hotels and continued their tour.
Speaking after the emergency landing, balloon pilot Caner Uzun said, “After taking off from Paşabağı region, we headed towards Love Valley. Due to the adverse wind, we decided to make an emergency landing and landed successfully. The safety of our guests is always our priority.”
Portuguese tourist Rosa Silva Mesquita, who was in the balloon, also evaluated the incident as follows: “Our pilot constantly reassured us and took the necessary steps quickly. We felt safe.”
