Kaya Sabancı, who was a guest at the opening ceremony of hotel owner Vedat Aşçı at Bodrum Mandarin Hotel, was subjected to verbal and physical attack by Vedat Aşçı. Sabancı, who was hospitalized as a result of the attack and discharged after treatment, shared his experience with the public.
Kaya Sabanci: “These are not bandits on the street, they are rich bandits. We were beaten. When I went to the restaurant opening, I said hello to the person next to him, Mustafa. Vedat Aşçı saw me and said, ‘Did you come here ?’ “He said and punched me on the eye. Then a woman came to help me.”
Sabancı also gave information about his health condition and said, “I have a ruptured vein under my eye. There is a fracture in my cheekbone, for which I will have surgery in 2-3 days. I am 72 years old, are you hitting “A 25-year-old young man, what is the need for this? I could have died there.”
Statement from the Hotel Owner
Following the incident, Vedat Aşçı also released a statement through his lawyers. Aşçı’s statement included the following statements:
Vedat Aşçı:“I was verbally and physically attacked by Kaya Sabancı at the event held in our hotel on June 20, 2024. An unpleasant incident occurred between the parties. The incident was referred to the judiciary by the parties.”
In the statement, it was also stated that medical teams were not prevented from entering the facility and it was emphasized that the allegations were unfounded. It was also reported that the incidents would be followed up within the legal process.
