Stubble Fire Disaster Caused Great Damage in the Region

The stubble fire, which broke out in the region between Çınar district of Diyarbakır and Mazıdağı district of Mardin, spread rapidly and caused a great disaster. When the flames spread to residential areas, they were brought under control after a long intervention by the teams. However, 5 people died in the fire and 44 people were injured, 10 of them seriously.

The stubble fire, which started at night, grew rapidly with the strength of the wind and threatened the surrounding neighborhoods. AFAD, Forest Management Directorate, fire brigade and 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched from Diyarbakır and Mardin as well as surrounding provinces to intervene in the fire. The injured were sent to hospitals and received treatment.

Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca, in his statement after the incident, stated that the number of people who lost their lives in the fire in Diyarbakır and Mardin was 5. Minister Koca stated that all necessary precautions were taken for the treatment of the injured.

It was reported that the authorities, who were dispatched to the region to control the fire, continued to investigate and take the necessary precautions.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya stated that the fire was under control and cooling efforts were continuing, and wished God’s mercy to the citizens who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the injured.
