Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office Indictment
In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, it is stated that 20 defendants, 16 of whom are detained, carried out “international espionage” activities on behalf of the Israeli Foreign Intelligence Service MOSSAD against foreign nationals residing in Turkey. In the indictment, it is stated that İÇOM, a unit of MOSSAD, contacted the defendants by posting job postings through various communication applications and social media platforms in order to obtain the information of the people they targeted.
It was noted that the defendants used 7 different phone numbers of their own to communicate with MOSSAD. It was especially emphasized that there were absolutely no video or audio calls made to the defendants. In the indictment, it is stated that the Israeli intelligence unit took advantage of the defendants, aiming to provide remote resources and carry out tactical tasks such as research, reconnaissance, and obtaining photographs and video documents for their targets in the field.
It is also included in the indictment that the defendants obtained confidential information about the addresses and images of Palestinian citizens and Hamas-affiliated individuals targeted by Israeli intelligence and shared them with Israeli intelligence officers. In addition, it was stated that in return for these activities, the defendants received financial benefits from Israeli intelligence, especially through systems such as “wire transfer”, “cryptocurrency” and “Western Union” used by terrorist organizations.
In the indictment, it is stated that efforts are being made to determine where the people targeted by Israel are collectively located and where they live, “Therefore, it is evaluated that different actions such as execution and kidnapping of these individuals may take place in the next stage. Moreover, when the MASAK reports are included in the file are examined, it is seen that the suspects are “It is obvious that they obtain benefits within the scope of their activities and gain profit in return for crime.”
