Forest Fire in Bozdoğan
A large forest fire started in the forest near Alhisar District of Bozdoğan district at around 16.30 the previous day. Under the influence of the wind, the flames quickly spread over a wide area, threatening life in the region.
The flames damaged many structures, including 3 houses, 1 barn and 1 farm in Hışımlar District of Bozdoğan. Two houses in Örmepınar District were also affected by the fire. As a result of the fire, approximately 10 small cattle and more than 100 poultry on the farm unfortunately burned to death. Additionally, a goat in the area with burning ears was treated by a veterinarian. A total of 59 people, including 10 personnel, who intervened in the fire suffered health problems due to smoke exposure.
Flames Reached Kavaklıdere Borders
Due to the effect of the wind, the fire reached the border point of Çavdır District of Kavaklıdere district of Muğla. While bulldozers and work machines made intense efforts to prevent the fire from progressing, fire crews kept ready to prevent possible spread on the line.
Neighborhood residents tried to move away from the area with their own tractors and move to a safe area. Gendarmerie teams did not allow civilian vehicles to enter the area, except for construction equipment, firefighters and firefighting vehicles. Under the influence of the wind, the fire continued to advance into the interior of the forest. More than 30 elderly, children and patients were evacuated from Yeşilköy District, near Çavdır District, as a precaution. Additionally, more than 20 animals were moved to safe areas.
As it got dark, aircraft and helicopters stopped responding to the fire. However, night vision helicopters intervened and continued to intervene in the flames. The fire continues on its third day in Hışımlar, Güre, Örmepınar and Yeşilköy neighborhoods, located between the borders of Muğla’s Kavaklıdere district and Aydın’s Bozdoğan district. 3 aircraft, 8 helicopters, 60 watercraft and 390 personnel are taking part in the intervention.
