Historical Welcome Ceremony in Ankara
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hosted Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi in Ankara for an official visit. The plane carrying Sisi and his accompanying delegation landed at Esenboğa Airport. At the welcoming ceremony held here, President Erdoğan was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Ankara Governor Vasip Şahin and other officials.
Erdoğan and Sisi met for a while at the Esenboğa Airport Hall of Fame, then went to the Presidential Complex in the same official car. The two leaders will attend the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council Meeting after their bilateral meeting here. Additionally, the signing ceremony of various agreements and a joint press conference will be held with the participation of the two leaders. President Erdoğan also planned to host an official dinner in honor of Sisi.
Ceremony Details
The cavalrymen welcomed the official vehicle containing President Erdoğan and Sisi on the street in front of the Presidential Complex and escorted the vehicle to the protocol gate. After the two leaders took their places at the ceremony, the official ceremony started with the playing of the national anthems accompanied by 21 cannon shots. Sisi then saluted the Guard Regiment Ceremonial Guard. Flags and soldiers representing the 16 Turkish states established in history were also present at the ceremony.
After introducing their delegations to each other, Erdoğan and Sisi shook hands and posed for journalists in front of the Turkish and Egyptian flags on the stairs. Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, Presidential Director of Administrative Affairs Hakkı Susmaz, Presidential Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün , MIT President İbrahim Kalın, Chief Advisor to the President on Security and Foreign Policy Akif Çağatay Kılıç and Ankara Governor Vasip Şahin were also present.
Bilateral Meeting
After the welcoming ceremony, President Erdoğan and Sisi had a one-on-one meeting. After this closed-door meeting, the two leaders will chair the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council Meeting. This meeting is of great importance in terms of strengthening relations between the two countries.
