Trabzonspor Sets Up a Tough Challenge with Rapid Vienna
Our representative in the UEFA Europa League, Trabzonspor, will face Austria’s Rapid Wien in the second leg of the 3rd qualifying round. Having lost the first match played at Papara Park 1-0, the Claret-Blues must achieve two different scores in this match to advance to the next round.
If Trabzonspor wins the game in Vienna by a single goal difference, the match will go to extra time. If the score remains the same in both 15-minute extra time periods, the team that will advance will be determined by penalty kicks. Rapid Vienna will advance to the Europa League play-off round if they can draw or win anything.
Trabzonspor, which had added many new players to its squad before this important match, did not include new transfer Stefan Savic in the match squad due to his injury.
In addition to the Montenegrin defender, some of the new names joining the team are: Arseniy Batagov, Pedro Malheiro, Borna Barisic, John Lundstram, Okay Yokuşlu, Ozan Tufan, Cihan Çanak, Anthony Nwakaeme and Denis Dragus. All these new players aim to increase the strength of the team.
If the Claret-Blues are eliminated by Rapid Vienna in the UEFA Europa League, they will qualify for the UEFA Conference League. In this case, Trabzonspor will face the winner of the St. Gallen – Slask Wroclaw match in the play-off round of the Conference League, Europe’s third major cup.
The Rapid Wien – Trabzonspor match, which will start at 19:00 at the Allianz Stadium, will be referred by Lithuanian referee Manfredas Lukjancukas.
