Rafale Warplanes Collide in France
According to French media reports, two Rafale fighter jets collided and crashed in mid-air near the town of Colombey-les-Belles at noon. The planes are reportedly attached to the Saint-Dizier air base in Haute-Marne.
Following the incident, it was stated that the pilot of one of the planes involved in the collision ejected himself, while an instructor pilot and a student pilot were in the other plane and search and rescue efforts were continuing.
The Governorate of Meurthe-et-Moselle announced that the operations center has been activated following the accident involving military aircraft and that search and rescue operations have been initiated with the support of military forces. These operations are being carried out with the participation of gendarmerie and fire brigade teams.
The governor’s office said in a statement that there was no information yet on any casualties related to the accident. It was noted that military authorities had launched a detailed investigation into the cause of this unfortunate incident.
