In a joint statement, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stressed the importance of international cooperation. The statement was made to support efforts by partners in Qatar, Egypt and the United States to achieve a ceasefire and free the hostages.

The joint statement included the following statements:

  • “We, the leaders of France, Germany and the United Kingdom, welcome the relentless efforts of our partners in Qatar, Egypt and the United States to achieve an agreement on a ceasefire and the release of the hostages. We support the call of Seikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, President Sisi and President Biden for an immediate resumption of negotiations. We cannot tolerate any further delays. We are committed to working cooperatively with all parties to prevent escalation and will make every effort to reduce tensions and achieve lasting stability in the process. The fighting must end immediately and all hostages still held by Hamas must be released. The people of Gaza need urgent and unlimited humanitarian assistance. “We are deeply concerned about the escalating tensions in the region and are united in our determination to reduce tensions and achieve regional stability in this regard.”

An Important Call to Iran

The joint statement also included a striking warning to Iran. It called on Iran not to launch any attacks and stated that the consequences of a possible attack would be Iran’s responsibility. The statement included the following statements:
