UN Secretary General Spokesperson Announcements
Speaking at a daily press conference, Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, spoke on behalf of reporters. Dujarric gave information about the latest evacuation orders issued by Israel over the weekend in parts of the Deir al-Balah Valley, saying, “This has made it almost impossible for aid workers to move along this important route.”
Dujarric stressed that the coastal road along the Mediterranean coast of the Gaza Strip is “not a viable alternative” for aid, adding, “The beaches along this route are now full of temporary shelters for displaced people.” He noted that this situation creates serious obstacles to the delivery of humanitarian aid, and said, “As a result, convoy movements along the coastal road are extremely slow. Critical supplies and services, such as water trucks, are not reaching those in need at “the scale they need.”
Israel has been continuously subjecting Palestinians living in Gaza to forced migration with the “evacuation” decisions it issued as a result of the attacks it launched on October 7, 2023. According to UN data, 9 out of every 10 people living in Gaza were forced to migrate due to Israeli attacks. This deepens the humanitarian crisis in the region, and the displaced Palestinians are going through difficult times due to the attacks, food shortages, and forced migration.
According to the UN, the vast majority of Palestinians in Gaza are forced to flee at least once a month, highlighting the seriousness of the humanitarian situation in the region and calling on the international community to take action.
