Humanitarian Drama in Gaza: Urgent Aid Needed for Children with Cancer

Gazze'deki İnsanlık Drama: Kanser Hastası Çocuklar İçin Acil Yardım Gerekiyor

Israel’s attacks and blockades on the blocked Gaza Strip have been continuing mercilessly for 317 days. Under these conditions, in addition to healthy people struggling to survive, 10,000 cancer patients who need treatment are also experiencing great distress. Finally, on August 15, the World Health Organization (WHO) tried to arrange for 11 cancer children to leave Gaza for treatment through international institutions. These children and their companions are planned to leave Gaza using the Kerem Abu Salim Border Gate.

However, Karra, one of the young patients who is deprived of the necessary means for treatment, cannot benefit from this opportunity because her mother cannot get permission to leave. Karra, who is receiving treatment with limited means at Nasser Hospital, needs urgent treatment for the tumor in her eye.

Little Muhammad Fighting the Tumor in His Eye

Little Muhammed’s grandmother Subhiyye Atiyye described the living conditions east of Khan Younis and the difficulties experienced during this process. Atiyye said, “Israel’s warnings to evacuate the region increased Muhammed’s suffering. Before the attacks, we were living normally. However, when we started migrating from one camp to another, from one school to another, the situation in the boy’s eyes deteriorated rapidly. “

Atiye said, “A tumor appeared in his left eye about 2 weeks ago and due to medical difficulties, this tumor started to grow and put pressure on his brain. During this terrible process, we had to migrate to the seaside. The tent we stayed “In was only covered with nylon. The hot weather, the missiles fired by Israel and the dust and smoke in the area made Mohammed’s condition worse.”

Addressing the Conscientious Man

Atiye emphasized that Muhammad should be treated as soon as possible and called out to conscientious people and leaders of Arab countries: “His condition is getting worse every day. This tumor is pressing on his brain and he has started complaining about his other eye. I want those who watch this video to help this child get treatment outside. Our children are dying in front of our eyes , we want some empathy. Open the border gates and these children can get treatment. We are content with just saying ‘okay mom’ and reassuring them, especially Muhammed, get treatment outside. “

Atiyye, who reminds that many journalists had interviewed him before, said: “We are tired now. We do not want our videos to spread in Arab countries, we want these countries to take action”he added.
