Lebanese Prime Minister Mikati Meets with British Foreign Secretary
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati held a phone conversation with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, following an Israeli military attack in southern Lebanon that killed 10 people, the official Lebanese news agency NNA reported. The focus of the conversation was on the latest developments in southern Lebanon.
Mikati called on the international community to put pressure on Israel to stop its attacks on villages and towns in the south. He stressed that these attacks were not only causing loss of life but also causing great destruction. The Prime Minister expressed his concern that such a spiral of violence would create tension in the region that could lead to undesirable consequences.
British Foreign Secretary Lammy promised to increase diplomatic contacts to reduce tensions in the region. He stated that such talks could contribute to a solution to the crisis. On the other hand, it was reported that a total of 10 Syrians, including 2 children, lost their lives in an attack by Israeli warplanes on a metal factory in Kefur Şimali, in the Nabatiyeh province in southern Lebanon.
