Increase in Covid-19 Cases: Statement from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency
According to Yonhap, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) has released updated data on COVID-19 cases in the country. According to the data, the number of patients admitted to hospital due to COVID-19 rose to 861 in the first week of August. This is a six-fold increase in the last four weeks.
Disease control authorities have stressed that cases have reached the highest level since February. However, it is important to note that more than 90 percent of patients have overcome the disease with mild symptoms. This indicates that the effects of Covid-19 are easing, but caution is still needed.
In particular, it was announced that the vaccination process against Covid-19 for individuals aged 65 and over will continue in October. It is emphasized that this vaccination is of critical importance in protecting the health of the elderly population.
