Meeting Between Erdogan and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim

Searching for Solutions to Problems
One of the main agenda items of the meeting was the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political bureau. Erdogan emphasized once again that Israel had no intention of reaching a ceasefire with this assassination. Expressing Turkey’s determination to undertake the role of mediator since the beginning of the attacks, Erdoğan stated that they will continue to work for solutions that will bring lasting peace and tranquility to the region and that they intend to increase these efforts together with Qatar.
The Role of the International Community
Erdoğan noted that Israel’s attacks on both Palestinian territories and Lebanon are aimed at escalating tensions in the region. He stated that it is imperative for the international community to take effective steps to stop the Israeli aggression that has increased in recent days. Erdoğan stated that Turkey is fully determined to take economic relations with Qatar, as well as political, military, commercial and cultural cooperation to further levels and that the steps to be taken will strengthen the solidarity between the two countries.
Relations with Albania
On the other hand, Erdoğan also held a phone conversation with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. In this conversation, the importance of neutralizing FETO’s efforts to gain ground in Albania was emphasized. Erdoğan stated that he believed that the necessary efforts would continue to end FETO’s structure within education, health and religious institutions in Albania.
