A tragic incident occurred at around 12.30pm on Balık Yolu Street in Yeşilkent Neighborhood, Avcılar district of Istanbul. Allegedly, an argument broke out between the driver of a moving light commercial vehicle and the driver of a pickup truck over the issue of giving way.
This argument quickly escalated into an armed fight when relatives of the parties joined the incident. A total of 3 people were injured during the conflict, and gunshots hit a nearby business and a minibus. Neighborhood residents who heard the gunshots immediately reported the situation to the police.
Upon notification, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Police teams took security measures in the area and immediately began an investigation into the incident. During the armed conflict, YS was injured in the neck and SY in the leg.
The injured were taken to hospital by ambulance after first aid by medical teams at the scene. The moments of this armed conflict were recorded by mobile phones and security cameras. The mobile phone footage shows people running away during the chaos between the two groups. The moments when police teams arrived at the scene while the armed conflict was ongoing were also recorded.
They Opened Fire and Ran Away
The moment of the armed conflict between the two groups was captured on security cameras of a nearby workplace. The footage clearly shows the drivers of the pickup truck and the light commercial vehicle arguing, then turning into a fight, and the surrounding citizens trying to intervene. During the conflict, people in the area are running away in panic. On the other hand, the moments when one of the parties involved in the fight opens fire with a gun in his hand and runs away were also captured on the security camera.
“I am a tradesman, do not touch us”
Mahsun Yılmaz, a shopkeeper on the street where the fight took place, described the moment of the incident as follows: “The truck was behind, and there was a car in front. One of them slammed on the brakes, and the other honked the The one in front said, ‘Did you explode?’ and the one in the back responded by saying, ‘Go ahead and leave.’ Then the man in the car punched him. We, the shopkeepers, intervened and tried to separate them. We suddenly saw a group of people coming from above with iron bars and. crowbars. I immediately raised my hand and said, ‘I give up, I’m a shopkeeper here, don’t touch us.’ “I stepped aside. Then they hit each other. Three people escaped with minor injuries. Those who started the incident escaped, and those who came later shot each other.”
