Yerlikaya’s Statements and Operation Details
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, in a statement he made on his social media account, emphasized his determination to fight terrorism by saying, “I want our dear nation to know that we are determined. We will eradicate these traitors from our sacred homeland. We will “take the breath away from the terrorists one by one.”
Yerlikaya provided details about the operation, which was carried out under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command Intelligence Directorate and the Counter-Terrorism (TEM) Department Directorate, and under the command and control of the Public Security Corps Command. In this context, as a result of the intelligence work carried out by the Ağrı Provincial Gendarmerie Command, the “Gürz 7” operation was carried out in the rural area of the Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı, using the Air Force Command aircraft, the Attack Attack Wing helicopters, and the UCAV support of the Gendarmerie General Command and the Land Forces Command.
Minister Yerlikaya announced that the so-called Border Province Commander of the separatist terrorist organization and YJA-STAR responsible, codenamed “Bervar”, Seyran Çomak, who gave the order and personally participated in 16 actions that resulted in 29 martyrs, was neutralized in the operation Yerlikaya shared the information that Çomak, who is in the red category on the Ministry of Interior’s Wanted for Terrorism List, gave the order and actively participated in 16 actions between 2016 and 2021.
Yerlikaya stated that a total of 29 people, including 1 civilian and 28 security officers, were martyred in these actions, and 72 security officers and 2 civilians were injured. Emphasizing that the determination and perseverance in the fight against terrorism must be maintained, Yerlikaya stated that all necessary support will be provided to ensure the security of the nation.
