Statement on Forest Fires in Greece
In the latest statement made by the Greek Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, it was stated that there is a worrying situation due to the forest fires that occurred especially in the regions of Vari, Magula and Domokos. In this context, all relevant institutions and organizations in the areas under fire threat were instructed to be prepared against possible fires.
In addition, citizens were warned to be careful during this process and to take the necessary precautions to protect their environment. The statement stated that burning dried grass was strictly prohibited, emphasizing that such actions increased the risk of fire.
Greek Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Vasilis Kikilyas recently said that those detained in connection with the forest fires “will pay the price for their behavior”, adding that such incidents are unacceptable and that the necessary criminal proceedings will be implemented.
