New Discussion in CHP: Changes to the Logo
The Chairman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Özgür Özel, has sparked a new debate by stating that the color of one of the six arrows in the party’s logo should be changed. Special made striking statements about the arrow, which represents the principle of statistics, and stated that the colors of these arrows will be green and purple. Special, “When we come to the CHP’s middle arrow of statistics, believing in environmentalist, nature-friendly and sustainable development and with our clear stance on gender equality, we will paint half of the statistics arrow green and the other half purple when expressing how we will govern this state. We will bring equal representation to this party and this country.”he said.
These statements by Özel caused different opinions to emerge within the party and created a new crisis environment.
Urgent Statement from Party Spokesperson
Following the reactions, CHP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Deniz Yücel had to make a quick statement. Yücel argued in a post on social media platforms that Özel emphasized environmentally friendly and sustainable policies and their commitment to gender equality while explaining the “statism” arrow.
Yücel stated the following:
- “The green color, representing environmentalism, and the purple color, representing gender equality, were expressed to symbolize our understanding of statistics. Therefore, there is no change regarding the symbol and flag of our party.
- “It is the Republican People’s Party that will bring gender equality and environmentally friendly policies to Turkey in all areas.”
- “It was necessary to make this statement because the statements made by our General President, Mr. Özgür Özel, in a language that everyone can understand, at the Women’s Branch Congress held yesterday may have been misunderstood by some groups.”
