Children Return to Learning with UNRWA Education Programme
In a statement regarding the new education program launched by UNRWA, it was stated that “Children are returning to learning in UNRWA shelters in the Gaza Strip. “This is an important step towards reuniting them with their childhood.” Ahmed, 11, who participated in the program, expressed his feelings with the following words: “We started learning in the shelter. I am taking math and Arabic lessons. “I am very happy to gain new knowledge every day.”
“Experiences No Child Should Witness”
Scott Anderson, UNRWA Director of Affairs, said in a statement about the launch of the program: “UNRWA has launched ‘return to learning’ activities for children in Gaza. This is the beginning of a long journey towards re-establishing education. We are providing psychosocial support through play, sports and recreational activities. Children in Gaza have been exposed to trauma that no child should have to witness. We believe that these activities will help them gradually reconnect with their childhood. “We count on everyone’s support in this process.”
