Skoda Kodiaq Second Generation on Sale in Turkey
Skoda has launched the second generation of its Kodiaq model, which achieved great success with its first generation introduced in 2016, in Turkey. The model was introduced in Bozcaada. Yüce Auto Skoda General Manager Zafer Başar, who made a market assessment in addition to the D-SUV segment, stated that the second half will be more challenging.
850 Thousand Estimate in the Passenger Market
Zafer Başar stated that they maintained their 850,000 sales forecast in the passenger car market. “The year-end forecasts we made at the beginning of the year have not changed. We predict that passenger car sales could reach 850,000 and the total market could exceed 1 million units. However, the difficulties will increase in the second half. Brands are taking on the responsibility with campaigns. Our target for the end of the year is 45,000 sales. “Our market share target is to increase the share by 4.4 percent,” he said.
Skoda’s Inclusiveness
Emphasizing that Skoda’s wide product range has a positive impact on sales, Başar said, “With seven different models, we appeal to 92 percent of the total passenger car market. We have become the brand that has increased its score the most in independent research conducted on new vehicle buyers. 40 percent of our customers come from the luxury segment. “Our brand has now reached a point where it can meet the needs of luxury customers.”
Electric Vehicle Attack
Başar stated that they have also taken important steps in electric vehicles: “We will continue our success in electric vehicles. We are making investments for DC fast charging stations in all our dealerships. First, we will introduce our Enyaq and then Elroq electric SUV models to our customers in the second quarter of next year. When these electric vehicles come to Turkey, our users will be able to charge their vehicles at DC charging speed in 55 of our dealerships and designated public areas. Installation has been completed in 10 dealerships so far and an investment of 7 million liras has been made per dealership. “In this way, we will minimize the charging anxiety and charging time anxiety of electric vehicles.”
Design and Features of the New Kodiaq
Skoda’s completely renewed Kodiaq model has taken its characteristic design even further in its second generation. Angular fenders, TOP LED Matrix headlights and horizontal light strips integrated with the grille reinforce the Kodiaq’s SUV appearance. The new-generation Kodiaq’s length has increased by 61 mm to 4,758 mm, while the wheelbase has increased by 3 mm to 2,788 mm. Its width has increased by 2 mm to 1,864 mm, while its height has been reduced by 13 mm to 1,668 mm. The boot volume has increased by 75 liters compared to the previous generation, reaching 910 liters, making it the leader in its segment. With the seats folded, the boot volume can reach 2,105 liters.
Kodiaq can be preferred with a 150 HP 1.5-liter TSI gasoline engine with mild hybrid technology and a 2.0 TDI diesel engine that produces 193 HP.
