Iranian Foreign Minister Makes Statement on Assassination of Hamas Leader Haniyeh
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian assessed the developments following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh at a program held with ambassadors and diplomatic representatives in Tehran, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reported.
Baqeri stressed that this vile attack on Haniyeh was part of the “genocide project” against the Palestinian people. He particularly stated, “There is no doubt that Iran holds the criminal network (Israel) that governs the occupied Palestinian territories responsible for this crime.”
Drawing attention to the attacks of the occupying Israel in the region, especially in Gaza, the Minister stated that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) did not fulfill its responsibility to stop these attacks. “Inaction makes the criminal more dangerous and after a while this situation leads to the normalization of crime and evil,” he said.
“This heinous assassination of Ismail Haniyeh is a clear example of arbitrary killing and serious human rights violations. Such aggression can never go unanswered. Iran’s response will definitely be harsh,” Baqeri said.
