Children’s Effort to Raise Awareness

Çocukların Farkındalık Yaratma Çabası

Children between the ages of 3 and 6, who receive education at a center that allows children to freely discover themselves, created a work of art with the contributions of their families and teachers in order to draw attention to the oppression that Israel is implementing against Palestinians . As part of the art class, 10 children and their parents gathered in the garden of the children’s village and created a work on a 4-square-meter cloth using the printing technique by dipping their hands and fingers in paint.

This work, which depicts a slice of watermelon symbolizing the colors of the flag in response to Israel’s attempts to prevent the Palestinian flag from being carried, has become an icon in the international community. The work, which is exhibited in the children’s playground, aims to draw attention to the difficulties experienced by the Palestinian people. In addition, Palestinian-themed works drawn by students of the Mother City Center adult art course are also presented to children in this area.

Working as an art teacher at Lokomotif Children’s Village Nursah Durak , In his statement to AA correspondent, he stated that training is provided in different fields in the workshops and that they convey the basics of painting to children in their own field. Durak stated that they came together with the children and their families near the park in the children’s village and said, “We laid down a 4-square-meter cloth on the ground with our children receiving education here and their families. The participants made prints “On this cloth using the colors of the Palestinian flag with their hands and fingers. Our work emerged with the traces left by each participant.”
