Apple’s Spring Update Boosts iPad and Mac Sales
This spring, Apple made significant updates to its iPads and Macs, introducing faster processors and a host of new features. On Thursday, Apple announced that sales of its iPads and Macs surged by over 12 percent during the quarter that concluded in June, providing a much-needed lift after a string of less-than-stellar financial results.
According to the latest report, Apple experienced a 5 percent increase in overall sales, reaching an impressive $85.78 billion. Moreover, the company’s profit climbed by 8 percent, amounting to $21.45 billion. These results successfully surpassed Wall Street analysts’ predictions, which anticipated a profit of around $20.65 billion for the quarter.
Looking ahead, Apple expressed optimism, projecting revenue growth for the current quarter, which wraps up in September. Following the announcement, shares remained stable in after-hours trading.
While the demand for iPads and Macs has provided a robust counterbalance, it is important to note that iPhone sales have shown signs of weakness. Interest in iPhones, particularly in China, has diminished significantly, primarily due to escalating competition from Huawei.
In the Chinese market, Huawei has seen remarkable growth, with its smartphone shipments soaring by 45 percent during the June quarter. In contrast, Apple experienced a decline, with its shipments in China decreasing by 5 percent. This shift highlights the competitive landscape that Apple faces as it navigates changing consumer preferences and fierce market rivals.
