Gathering to Support Palestine

Filistin'e Destek İçin Buluşma

Civil Society Organizations are organizing a major event in support of Palestine on August 3, in line with the will of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. NGOs and volunteers, who came together under the leadership of the Palestine Solidarity Platform, will gather in Hagia Sophia Square to draw attention to the oppression and occupation that the Palestinian people are subjected to.

The attacks that began on October 7, 2023, and the genocide that followed, have brought the suffering in Palestine to a significant place on the world agenda. While many world leaders and international organizations remained silent about this human tragedy, a great resistance emerged in the public opinion.

Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated in Iran, declared August 3 as an international day to support the people of Gaza and prisoners in Israeli prisons. Haniyeh called on all countries in the world to hold demonstrations on this date.

Haniye’s Last Request

Before this meeting, which will be held with the theme of “We Have a Word for Martyr Ismail Haniye”, a wide announcement will be made on social media with the hashtags #LastCall and #LastCall. At Ismail Haniye’s “Last Call” meeting, messages of unity and support will be given to the world public opinion.

Filistin'e Destek İçin Ayasofya Meydanı'nda Büyük Buluşma

Participants are expected to chant slogans and sing marches at the demonstration to be held in Hagia Sophia Square in support of the Palestinian people’s rightful resistance. The aim is for Istanbul to stand with the Palestinian people as one heart.

The attacks on the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories, which have continued since October 7, 2023, have reached genocidal proportions. In the past 300 days, approximately 40,000 Palestinians have been martyred and 91,000 injured before the eyes of the world. In addition, 10,000 Palestinians are missing and more than 2 million Palestinians have been forced to migrate. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who lost his children and grandchildren in the recent attacks, was among those martyred.
