Istanbul Airports Flight and Passenger Data
In the first half of 2023, Sabiha Gökçen Airport carried out a total of 117,773 flights, 54,983 of which were domestic and 62,790 international flights. In the same period, a total of 13,270 flights were made from Atatürk Airport; 7,945 of which were domestic and 5,325 were international flights.
The total number of flights from all airports in Istanbul during this period was determined as 384,158, 120,711 on domestic lines and 263,447 on international lines. In the same period last year, a total of 363,961 flights were made from the airports in the megacity. This year, an increase of approximately 6% in the first half of the year, with 20,197 additional flights recorded.
Increase in Passenger Numbers in the First Half of the Year
In the first six months of 2023, Istanbul Airport hosted 8 million 154 thousand 410 passengers on domestic flights and 29 million 938 thousand 219 passengers on international flights. During this period, 9 million 463 thousand 044 passengers traveled on domestic flights and 10 million 359 thousand 842 passengers traveled on international flights at Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Thus, a total of 19 million 822 thousand 886 passengers flew from Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
In total, 57,915,515 passengers traveled through Istanbul’s airports in the first six months of the year, 17,617,454 on domestic flights and 40,298,061 on international flights. In the same period last year, a total of 52,288,632 passengers flew from Istanbul’s airports on domestic and international flights. This year, there was an 11% increase with 5,626,883 passengers.
A total of 104 million 725 thousand 264 passengers were hosted at airports across Turkey in the first half of the year, and it was calculated that 55% of these passengers traveled via domestic and international flights in Istanbul.
