Christian Lindmeier from the UN Geneva Office made statements regarding the evacuation of patients from the Gaza Strip at the WHO’s weekly press conference. When asked by an AA correspondent, Lindmeier stated that a group of patients and wounded were evacuated to receive treatment outside the Gaza Strip under WHO coordination.
Lindmeier said, “In the first stage, four children and their companions were evacuated to Belgium via Egypt. More patients are currently being evacuated, but we cannot yet reach the exact number due to the ongoing operation.” He stated that detailed information will be shared after the operation is completed.
Lindmeier also mentioned the 10,000 people in the Gaza Strip who need medical evacuation, stressing that countries should accept these people and reiterated the call for a ceasefire.
