Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat Speaks at the Launch of the Green Deal Alignment Project Support

Minister of Trade Omer BolatHe gave a speech at the launch of the ‘Responsible Program’, which was carried out within the scope of the Green Deal Alignment Project Support, which was developed to increase exports and ensure compliance with EU standards.

Minister Bolat stated that the future trade with the European Union (EU) will be shaped in accordance with the principles of sustainability and green transformation, and emphasized the importance of the support to be provided to exporters in this direction.

According to Minister Bolat’s statements, he stated that the Customs Union between Turkey and the EU has been continuing for 28 years and that mutual trade has increased exponentially during this period. Stating that Turkey’s exports to the EU amount to 104 billion dollars, Bolat said that these figures are of critical importance for the Turkish economy.

Minister Bolat drew attention to the need to comply with the EU’s Green Deal, reminding that the EU will begin implementing a carbon tax at the border in 2026. Stating that complying with this process is important for the Turkish industry, Bolat stated that trade policies should be determined in line with Turkey’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2053.

Bolat announced that export companies will be guided in their green and digital transformation processes with the ‘Responsible Program’ implemented within the scope of the Green Agreement Compliance Project, and that consultancy services will be supported for companies within the scope of the program.

Responsible Program and Supports

Minister Bolat stated that the Responsible Program consists of 3 stages, and explained that in the first stage, the current situation analysis of the companies will be carried out, in the second stage, support will be provided for the creation of a sustainability road map, and in the third stage, the implemented projects will be monitored.

Bolat stated that 50 percent support will be provided for 5 years for consultancy services to be provided to companies within the scope of the Responsible Program, and that the total support amount will not exceed 10 million lira.

Minister Bolat stated that the Responsible Program will enable companies to take important steps in green transformation and sustainability, and that efforts will continue to increase Turkey’s export potential.
