According to Le Parisien newspaper, the plague virus was detected in a suspicious letter sent to French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin. Black powder from the package found in the distribution center of the post office in Cote d’Or caused great concern.
Experts subjected the dust in the suspicious package to nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical (NRBC-E) tests. The test revealed the plague virus. The letter was sent to the Pasteur Institute for further examination and the final results are expected to be announced on Monday evening.
The Dijon prosecutor’s office has also launched an investigation into the incident. The identity of the person or persons to whom the suspicious letter was sent has not yet been determined.
