The Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) meeting, which annually takes place every year, will be held under the leadership of President Erdoğan this year as well. The council will be held in the Presidential Complex and its members include Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan.
Chief of General Staff General Metin Gürak, Land Forces Commander General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu and Air Forces Commander General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu as well as Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu will also be present at the meeting. A new appointment is expected for the Naval Forces Command due to the end of Admiral Tatlıoğlu’s term of office.
Promotion and Retirement Procedures
- The promotion and retirement procedures of generals, admirals and colonels will be discussed.
- It is expected that the term of office of Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, whose term of office will end this year, will be extended.
Appointments of Generals and Admirals
- It is expected that appointments for general and admiral ranks will be made at the Supreme Military Council meeting.
- There are currently 5 names serving as lieutenant generals and vice admirals in the Land, Navy and Air Forces in the queue for promotion.
