In a statement made by the Russian intelligence unit FSB, it was stated that a series of terrorist attacks planned in Dagestan were prevented as a result of a joint operation carried out with the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It was reported that three people identified as members of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia were detained in the operation carried out in the city of Kaspiysk.
The detained suspects are Russian citizens and were reportedly planning acts of sabotage and terror against police units in Dagestan and an Orthodox church in Kaspiysk. In addition, searches of the suspects’ homes revealed homemade explosives, bomb-making materials, flags belonging to terrorist organizations and mobile phones containing instructions.
In the video released by the FSB, the suspects were seen confessing to their crimes. It was emphasized that the operation was successful and that possible terrorist attacks were prevented.
