Details of the incident
Today’s incident in Kartal occurred at around 14:00 on Banu Street in Kartal Orhantepe Neighborhood. A section of the roof of the building, which has 16 apartments on the ground floor and 4 floors, collapsed onto the balcony on the 4th floor. Fire, police, Kartal Municipality police teams and search and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene upon the notification of the residents of the building.
Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths in the incident, and municipal police teams closed the street where the building is located to vehicle and pedestrian traffic with barriers. Kartal Municipality teams evacuated the building as a precaution, and a decision was made to demolish the building.

Neighborhood resident Kaan Duru said the following about the incident: “This building is old. The manager of this place is also living in his summer house because the building is going to be demolished. We told him and warned him several times. We told him To inform the municipality but no one listened. Finally, this incident happened. I don’t know if there are any injuries or deaths. I hope there aren’t any. been working here for 10 years. This building has been like this for 10 years but I don’t know how old the building is. Not just this building, there were buildings like this behind the building. Military base. Arms would fit into the cracks, those were demolished and are being rebuilt now, hopefully I can do the same.”
