Fuel Tanker Capsizes, 1 Person Missing
The Philippine-flagged fuel tanker “MT Terra Nova” sank during a severe storm off the coast of the Batian region. The tanker was carrying 1.5 million liters of fuel. Authorities reported that 16 crew members were rescued, but 1 person was missing and search efforts were ongoing. Due to the fuel leak in the tanker, authorities stated that strong winds and rainfall made search efforts and efforts to contain the leak difficult.
The Coast Guard stressed that there was a danger of the leak reaching the shores of the capital Manila and stated that the necessary precautions were being taken.
