US President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Meet
US President Joe Biden hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. However, a large number of demonstrators gathered around the White House to protest the two leaders’ Gaza policies.
Police took heavy security measures, closing roads leading to the White House and also closing Lafayette Park. Hundreds of investigators gathered outside the park to call for an end to the conflict in Gaza.
The demonstrators held signs reading “Stop Israel’s genocide in Gaza” and called Netanyahu a “genocidal” person.
Banners reading “Netanyahu is a war criminal” drew attention at the demonstration, which was also attended by Jewish groups. The protests continued throughout Biden and Netanyahu’s meeting.
Previous Protests
Large-scale protests had previously taken place when Netanyahu addressed the US Congress, with thousands of people demonstrating in large numbers on Pennsylvania Avenue.
