Gathering in Martyr Ömer Halisdemir Square under the leadership of the Anatolian Youth Association (AGD) and the National Youth Foundation, the group, armed with Palestinian flags, expressed their reaction to the attacks carried out by the occupying Israel in Gaza.
Strong Statements from Student Yağız Eren Kumak
Yağız Eren Kumak, an 8th grade student at 5 February Middle School, stated in his speech that more than 50 thousand people have been martyred in the events that have taken place in Palestine since October 7, and that there are approximately 16 thousand children among them . Kumak said, “We children have gathered here not only to play games, but to change the rules of the game. We are here so that the hands of Gazan children do not hold the torn bodies of their mothers and fathers while we hold our pens and books. As children in Turkey, we are here to support our Gazan brothers and sisters.” Kumak stated that the number of martyrs is increasing by the hour, and said, “Children in Turkey and their families need to support the children of Gaza. We know that victory is near.”
An Emotional Action on Behalf of Children
After Kumak’s speech, children’s shoes were left in the square and prayers were said. This emotional action conveyed a message of support for children in Palestine.
