Indonesian President Joko Widodo emphasized that the golden visa program will facilitate investments in the country and stated that the number of quality visitors will increase.
9 Different Ways to Get a Golden Visa
The golden visa program offers investors a 5 or 10-year residence permit. There are different ways to obtain a visa under the program:
- Obtaining a 5-year residence permit by investing 2.5 million dollars
- Obtaining a 10-year residence permit by investing $5 million
- Obtaining a 5-year residence permit by depositing 350 thousand dollars in state banks
- Obtaining a 10-year residence permit by depositing $700,000 in state banks
- Investing $130,000 and purchasing a house worth over $1 million will grant you a 5-year residence permit.
- Opportunity to obtain a residence permit for 5 or 10 years for companies depending on different investment amounts
Golden Visa Application and First Holders
The golden visa program has been in effect since August 2023 and approximately 300 people have been granted visas. Thanks to this, over $123 million has been invested in the country.
The first person to receive the golden visa was Samuel Harris Altman, CEO of OpenAI, who earned a 10-year “global talent” permit.
Indonesia’s goal is to issue 1,000 golden visas by the end of 2024.
Direct Investment Focused Program
Indonesia is encouraging local and foreign direct investment of $101.5 billion to achieve its 5.2 percent economic growth target in 2024.
Indonesian National Team’s South Korean coach Shin Tae-yong also qualified to receive a golden visa under this program.
