President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made important statements regarding the problem of stray dogs and the bill submitted to the Parliament at the AK Party Group Meeting. Erdoğan emphasized the importance of making the streets safe and said, “Our people want the streets to be safe, our children want to go to school with peace of mind and play in the park.”
Erdoğan touched on the need to be sensitive about animals and said, “It is unthinkable for us to remain silent and unresponsive to these requests. No one should try to give us lessons in compassion regarding animals.” He also emphasized the need to support families who suffered as a result of the tragic events.
Regarding the death of 10-year-old Mahra Melin Pınar while running away from stray dogs, Mahra’s mother Derya Pınar made an emotional statement. Addressing President Erdoğan, she said, “I misunderstood you, they told me wrong about you. Today I understood how a nation admired you, how you brought millions of people after you.”
The meeting discussed measures to be taken regarding stray animals and work to be done to ensure the safety of citizens. The bill on the subject is expected to be brought to the agenda of the Parliament.
