Statement from the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on UNRWA
Following the first vote in the Israeli parliament to declare UNRWA a terrorist organization, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry issued a written statement. The statement said, “This decision targets the Agency’s symbolic mission of confirming the Palestinians’ right to return to their homeland and compensation.”
The Jordanian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Israel’s complaints and practices against UNRWA disregard the Agency’s humanitarian role for the Palestinian people and are a clear violation of international law. It also called on the international community to provide political and financial support to enable the Agency to continue its humanitarian mission, emphasizing UNRWA’s importance, especially in sensitive areas such as Gaza.
Israeli Parliament’s Resolutions Against UNRWA
In Israel, the parliament passed three bills declaring UNRWA a “terrorist organization”, banning its activities in the country and lifting the immunity of its employees in the first vote.
