Minister Safedi’s Statement on Israel’s Targeting of UN Convoy
Minister Safadi, in a statement shared on social media platform X, strongly condemned the targeting of a UN convoy by Israeli soldiers. “This is a war crime. UNRWA and other humanitarian aid organizations and their workers must be protected from attacks by Israeli occupation forces,” said Safadi, emphasizing that targeting international institutions and organizations is unacceptable. He also said, “Gaza has become a graveyard not only for children but also for international law. This situation is a great shame for the entire international system.”
Statement by UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini
Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), announced that Israeli forces opened fire on a UN convoy in Gaza. In a post on his social media account, Lazzarini stated that the convoy that was attacked came under heavy fire and that the UN armored vehicle that was hit by 5 bullets was seriously damaged. It is known that the Israeli army, which continues its crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, frequently targets aid organizations.
Attacks of the Occupying Israeli Army
The occupying Israeli army killed 7 employees of the World Central Kitchen (WCK) in an attack on the Deir el-Balah region of Gaza on April 1. It was reported that there were 2 armored vehicles bearing the organization’s logo in the de-escalation zone during the attack.
