In Detention Center No. 1 in Russia’s Rostov Region, 6 prisoners determined to be affiliated with DAESH took 2 guards hostage before the hearing. This incident caused a major security concern in the region.

An operation was carried out to rescue the hostages

While the suspects demanded to be released and allocated a vehicle, after long negotiations, the Russian police organized a special operation. During the operation, the suspects were neutralized and the hostages were rescued. The successful operation of the security forces ensured the safe rescue of the hostages.

Background and Arrest Process of the Suspects

The Russian Investigative Committee stated that the suspects were arrested last year while preparing a terrorist attack in the Karachay-Circassian Republic. The suspects were arrested at that time and sentenced to 18 years in prison each.

Statement Made After the Incident

Russian Federal Criminal Service made a statement about the special operation carried out to rescue the hostages and said, “During the operation to free the hostages, the criminals were neutralized. The employees taken hostage were rescued.”
