June Inflation Data Published by Eurostat
The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) has announced the final inflation data for the Eurozone and the European Union (EU) for June. According to the data, annual inflation in the Eurozone, which was 2.6 percent in May, decreased to 2.5 percent in June. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.2 percent on a monthly basis in June.
In line with market expectations, annual inflation in the Eurozone was expected to be 2.5 percent and monthly inflation was expected to be 0.2 percent, and the announced data met these expectations.
Core Inflation Reaches 2.9 Percent
Core inflation in the Eurozone rose to 2.9 percent on an annual basis in June, while monthly core inflation was recorded at 0.4 percent.
Inflation in the EU is 2.6%
Annual inflation in the EU, which was 2.7 percent in May, fell to 2.6 percent in June. The CPI in the EU increased by 0.2 percent on a monthly basis in June.
Highest Inflation Occurred in Services
Looking at the main components of inflation in the Eurozone, annual inflation in services was the highest at 1.84 percent. Services were followed by food, alcohol and tobacco products at 0.48 percent, non-energy industrial products at 0.17 percent and energy products at 0.02 percent.
