President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the “Mah-ı Muharrem Fast Breaking Lokması” program held at the Presidential Complex. In his speech at the program, Erdoğan expressed his great pleasure in being at the table on the Day of Ashura, the 10th day of Yas-ı Muharrem.
Erdoğan thanked those at the table and said, ” First of all, I would like to send my blessings to our Prophet Muhammad Mustafa, and greetings to his household and friends, each of whom are our pole stars.” he said.
Erdoğan, who remembered the martyrs of Karbala with mercy on the 1385th anniversary of the martyrdom of Hazrat Hussein and his 72 comrades, reminding that the month of Muharram is a month of mercy and abundance for Muslims. He also stated that Muharram is also a month of great fire, pain and mourning that turns hearts into the Desert of Karbala.
Highlights from Erdoğan’s speech are as follows:
- We still remember with sadness the incident that took place in Karbala in the year 61 AH.
- Our Prophet loved Hasan and Hussein, calling them ‘my sweet basil flowers in the world’.
- Love for the Ahl al-Bayt came to us as a command of our Prophet.
Erdoğan expressed his happiness in breaking the Muharram fast and expressed his wish for unity, solidarity and brotherhood to last. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya also attended the program.
