AK Party Amasya Deputy Hasan Çilez, in a press conference held in the Parliament, emphasized that the coup attempt organized by FETÖ on July 15, 2016 was an attempt to invade Turkey. Çilez stated that the Turkish people, who took to the streets upon the call of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, prevented the coup by resisting tanks, cannons and rifles.

Çilez said:
- “As Turks, we have been in constant struggle since the day we came to Anatolia. We faced the Crusades and we eliminated them. They wanted to share our lands in the First World War, we emerged from this process by establishing the Republic of Turkey “We fought against coups.”
- “They tried to shackle the country through terrorist organizations. Their true face was revealed with the coup attempt of FETO.”
- “The state and the nation dealt a heavy blow to FETO. However, we must always be vigilant against this organization. Our struggle continues.”
- “Imperial powers are still trying to harm our country in different ways today. They are trying to weaken society by targeting the family institution. We need to be careful against such dangers.”
Çilez made the following warnings:
- “The superior mind was prepared to invade our homeland on July 15. Now they are targeting the family institution. They are trying to impose LGBT and similar ideologies. We must be alert against such perverse thoughts.”
- “There are those who support such ideologies within our country. We must fight against this situation.”
