Visitors Flood Ömer Halisdemir’s Tomb

The grave of Infantry Chief Master Sergeant Ömer Halisdemir, who shot the putschist general at the Special Forces Command in Ankara and was martyred during the coup attempt of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization on July 15, 2016, is located in the Çukurkuyu town of the Bor district of Niğde. The grave of the martyr is met with great interest from visitors.

Citizens who visit Ömer Halisdemir’s grave recite the Quran and pray. Families experience emotional moments by telling their children about Ömer Halisdemir’s heroism. Former Special Forces Commander, retired Lieutenant General Zekai Aksakallı also visited the martyr’s grave, recited prayers and met with his family.

Aksakallı, in his statement, emphasized that the betrayal against the country’s independence and future is in its 8th year, and said, “It is also the 8th year of the martyrdom of Ömer Halisdemir, who fell for the country’s future and independence. The whole The world should know that there are no more Ömers in this country. They should get it into their heads that the treacherous networks abroad and their extensions inside will never be successful.”

Cyclists who set out from Istanbul within the scope of the “8th National Ömer Halisdemir Bicycle Tour” organized by Arnavutköy Municipality reached the martyr’s grave. The athletes poured the soil they took from the martyrs’ cemeteries onto Halisdemir’s grave and prayed.

Arnavutköy Deputy Mayor Zeki Koç stated that they covered approximately 1000 kilometers within the scope of the event. 35 athletes participated in the tour and 6 provinces were passed. Koç said, “We hold this event every year in order not to forget the treacherous coup attempt and not to let it be forgotten.”

Tuncay Demir, who came from Istanbul, stated that he named his son “Ömer Halis”, who was born a year after the coup attempt, and said, “We want the name of our heroes to live on. We love our country. We “I want my son to keep the name of our martyr alive.”
