Joint Exercise “United-2024” Started on the Caspian Sea Coast of Kazakhstan
The official opening ceremony of the joint exercise “United-2024”, which was held with the participation of the military units of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, was held in the port city of Aktau on the Caspian Sea coast of Kazakhstan . The military units of the 5 countries, heads of delegations, commanders and personnel of the Kazakh Armed Forces were present at the official opening ceremony of the exercise.
What Happened at the Opening Ceremony?
- The national anthems of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan were played at the opening ceremony.
- Military units participating in the drill paraded with their flags.
- The crews of the Kazakh and Azerbaijani warships greeted the audience in the port.
Statements from the Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan
Speaking at the ceremony, First Deputy Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan and Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Sultan Kamaletdinov, emphasized that there are close and friendly relations of trust between the countries participating in the exercise. Kamaletdinov also stated that the exercise will increase the level of coherence of military command and control bodies, adding, “Such an exercise is being held for the first time with the participation of the military units of four Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan. This is evidence of the desire of our states to further expand and strengthen good neighborly relations, including ensuring security and stability.”
Who Participates in the Exercise?
Approximately 4,000 soldiers from 5 countries are participating in the exercise. The exercise will allow testing of methods of conducting armed struggle while carrying out combat training tasks to eliminate illegal armed groups.
