President Erdogan Made Statements Before NATO Summit
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made important statements to the press members at Esenboğa Airport before departing for the USA.
Here are some of the statements made by Erdoğan:
- The NATO Summit celebrates the alliance’s 45th anniversary. The summit will focus on strengthening defense and deterrence.
- The threat of terrorism is increasing worldwide and emphasis will be placed on NATO’s fight against terrorist organisations.
- We state that we support the territorial integrity of Ukraine and that NATO should not be a party to the war.
“We are among the countries that are the backbone of NATO”
President Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey is one of the top five countries that contribute the most to NATO’s missions. Turkey’s capabilities and means are among NATO’s strong countries.
Erdoğan also brought up the oppression in Palestine and stated that the international community should be more active on this issue.
“TRNC is a full member of the Turkish states in our eyes”
President Erdoğan stated that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was accepted as a full member among the Turkish states. He also conveyed that Azerbaijan and other Turkish states had similar views on this issue.
President Erdogan’s NATO Summit Program
President Erdogan will travel to the US for the NATO summit. He will attend various events as part of the summit:
